Space Products and Applications (SPA) has been pioneering the application of modern control techniques for orbit control, and has developed an innovative on-board control system for autonomous orbit control and stationkeeping satellites. The basic design is an on-board real-time controller using GPS measurement feedback. This is the first application of closed-loop feedback technique being applied to orbital control, and SPA has been issued a patent on this design (US Patent No. 6,089,507).
